The event will take place in the private parking lot of Novel Point Coffee at 700 1st St NW!

Our cafe will be open for food & drinks. Alcohol will also be sold on the property as well.

Competition begins Saturday, October 28th, at 7pm! We ask competitors to arrive at least 30 min before the event for a quick briefing and to get in some latte art practice. Also, it’s Halloweekend, so come in costume! There will be a special prize for the best costume of the night.

This is a head-to-head competition with 16 competitors and 3 panel judges. There will be 4 rounds with each head-to-head match ending in an elimination.

Each round will increase in difficulty with a more complex latte art design to recreate. The final three competitors will receive a cash prize and some sweet merch!

There will also be an optional bonus round where competitors get to pour into a wacky-shaped “mug” of our choosing – mwah ha ha!

Each competitor will have only one opportunity to pour the latte art design chosen for each round. The designs for each round are as follows:

Round 1: Tulip (4 stack minimum)
Round 2: Rosetta / Slowsetta
Round 3: Rose / Swan
Round 4: Freestyle / Barista’s Choice (Oat Milk)

While competitors will not be required to pull their own espresso shots, they will be required to steam their own milk and pour their design into a 10oz (300ml) bowl-shaped mug before 2 minutes has passed. Once the design is poured, competitors must place their mug on the judges table for review.

Competitors will be disqualified for taking too long or failing to pour the proper design. There are no disqualifications for spilled milk but it may factor into the judges’ decision.

Whole milk will be used for the first 3 rounds of competition. Planet Oat Oatmilk Barista Edition will be used for the final round and 3rd place match.

1st place: $200 cash + merch
2nd place: $100 cash + merch
3rd place: $50 cash + merch
